Abstract
The solution for a circular plate excited to transverse vibrations by a periodic point force at its center is derived in closed form. The result is used to develop the theory of sound propagation in plates, similar to the theory of reverberation in room acoustics. In the computations the plate is represented by its sound velocity for bending waves and its characteristic impedance.
