Abstract

The decomposition of lead azide under the influence of vibration is investigated. The kinetics of its decomposition is analyzed by a manometer technique, and the kinetic characteristics are calculated from the experimental data. Thermographically recorded data exhibit a significant change in the physicochemical properties of lead azide. The reaction products are identified by x-ray phase analysis. The influence of mechanical activation on the decomposition kinetics is ascertained.
