Abstract

A finite periodic structure consisting of active functionally graded (FG) metamaterial bars is proposed, and the active FG metamaterial bar is constructed by a FG host bar and equidistantly distributed piezoelectric actuator/sensor groups. An analytical model is presented for the dynamic behavior of the finite periodic FG metamaterial structure. The calculation accuracy for present analytical model is validated by the finite element method (FEM). The results demonstrate that the width and location of band gaps for the periodic FG metamaterial structure can be tuned by adjusting the feedback control gain of the controller and designing the gradient index.
