Abstract

An investigation was carried out to explain the vibrations of tapered roller bearings. The vibrations of four types of normal tapered roller bearings were studied. The test bearings were operated under several rotational speeds and axial loads. The radial and the axial vibrations on the outer ring of each test bearing were detected by an accelerometer. The vibrations were examined by using a FFT analyzer. From the experimental results and their analysis, the vibration characteristics of a normal tapered roller bearing itself have been clarified, and the causes of the vibrations specified.
