Abstract

Waviness errors can greatly affect the bearing vibrations. In this paper, a multi-body dynamic model for a roller bearing with the waviness error on its inner and outer raceway is established. A fitted or an actual measured waviness error is considered in the model. The contact stiffness between the roller and raceways is calculated by Hertzian line contact theory. The fitted waviness error based on the maximum amplitude of the actual measured waviness error is defined. The influences of the actual measured waviness error on the inner and outer raceway are investigated. Differences between the fitted and actual measured waviness error are studied. The results show that the actual measured waviness error has a great influence on contact force and vibration of roller bearings, and the fitted waviness error shows a little more difference compared to the measured waviness error.
