Abstract

A finite strip analysis of the vibration of rectangular plates with intermediate supports is described. This approach incorporates the stiffness of the support element in a direct stiffness methodology. The support element, which is modeled as a space frame element, has been combined directly to the stiffness matrix of the strip. The validity of the method is demonstrated in an example. Results are presented to demonstrate convergence of the method.
