Abstract

The free vibration analysis of fibre reinforced plastic (FRP) faced anisotropic sandwich plates is presented by using a more accurate hybrid-stress finite element. The required computer program is developed and is checked against an existing three-dimensional elasticity solution of a three-layered laminate. The free vibration behaviour of the FRP faced sandwich is studied by varying the parameters: 1. (i) length to width ratio. 2. (ii) width to thickness ratio. 3. (iii) fibre orientation. 4. (iv) ratio of face thicknesses. 5. (v) boundary conditions. The results of first four natural frequencies and mode shapes are presented in graphical form.
