Abstract

ODS (Operation Deflection shapes) based on video data holds the possibility to analyze objects with several advantages. The hardware costs are low, as only a camera is required, the measurement is simple and can be performed with little expert knowledge and the post processing is fast and straight forward. It is a contact free method, so the object's vibration is not influenced and by applying methods based on artificial intelligence it is in most cases not necessary to prepare surfaces. The limits of ODS based on video are mainly defined by the used camera and lens. This work will explore the advantages and limitations of the method applied in measurements of buildings and big structures. Results of measurements of large-scale buildings and bridges will be shown and compared to traditional methods and simulations. Advantages and disadvantage as well as limitations in hard- and software of the introduced method will be discussed.
