Abstract A description is provided for Vezdaea aestivalis , a lichen-forming fungus typical of ephemeral habitats, overgrowing mosses or plant remains over calcareous rocks, often on lead or zinc mine sites. Some information on its associated organisms and substrata, dispersal and transmission, habitats and conservation status is given, along with details of its geographical distribution (Asia (Georgia), Australasia (Australia (Victoria)), Europe (Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Czech Republic, former Czechoslovakia, Channel Islands, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Isle of Man, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia (Leningrad Oblast, Republic of Adygea), Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, UK), North America (Canada (Northwest Territories))).
