Abstract

AbstractAs the internal auditory canal is composed of not only the cochlear nerve but also the vestibular nerves, some patients with CND are believed to have accompanying vestibular nerve deficiency (VND). However, few studies focus on vestibular nerve deficiency and vestibular function in patients with CND. Research showed that 36.8% of patients with CND also had VND, including vestibular nerve hypoplasia or absence. In this chapter, we will introduce vestibular assessment methods and vestibular function variation before and after cochlear implantation surgery in patients with CND.KeywordsVestibular functionBalance functionCochlear nerve deficiencyVestibular nerve deficiencyCochlear implantation
