Abstract

The interest in building small hydroelectric power plants has been growing lately. The problems that occur are caused mostly by the lack of national standards, which would more clearly define the amount of influence that such power stations and their generators may have on network voltage distortion. Investors often do not know if it is necessary to invest in extra equipment for meeting voltage and current quality standards. Our paper describes some measurements taken in the field and in our laboratories of the influence that very small hydroelectric power stations have.
