Abstract

Very high field EPR spectra have been recorded at several frequencies and temperatures on a polycrystalline sample of [Mn 12O 12(CH 3COO) 16(H 2O) 4] · 2CH 3COOH · 4H 2O, Mn12. This compound is the first example of a molecular spin cluster behaving like a nanomagnet. These EPR measurements have lead to a precise description of the magnetic ground state of the system, including fourth-order terms which are particularly relevant for quantum tunnelling of the Magnetisation (QTM).
