Abstract
This is a transverse view of the uterine body containing a 4 week 2 day gestational age embryonic vesicle. The gestational sac was first identified in the anterior endometrial wall at 16 days after ovulation (4 weeks and 2 days from last menstrual period) and appears to be fully nidated. The sac measures 1.8 mm in diameter. Embryonic development was subsequently documented with twice weekly scans as part of a study designed to refine our knowledge of the earliest stages of human gestation. The embryonic vesicle is seen as a dark grey circle located within the more hyperechoic oval representing decidualized endometrial tissue. The deeper grey myometrium surrounds the endometrium.
