Abstract

Summary The vertical movements of the Earth's crust as well as the geological indices have been determined according to the lines of repeated levellings at the same points (Fig. 1). To determine their correlative matrix as well coefficients of complex corelation have been calculated. It has been stated that there exists interdependence between vertical movements of the Earth's crust and geological and geophysical characteristics of territory (tables 1,2). A regressive model to show vertical movements of the Earth's crust according to the geological indices has been created by Fisher F - statistic technique. It has been found out that the regressive model is adequate to the measurement results. The following conclusions can be drawn: vertical movements of the Earth's crust is natural phenomenon in the Lithuanian territory and it is related to its geological and tectonic structure. The regressive model can be used for predicting vertical movements in those parts of the territory where levelling network is rather thin.
