Abstract

Vertically aligned α-MoO3 nanorods are successfully grown on commercial glass substrate by vacuum thermal evaporation technique. This is achieved by using hydrothermally synthesized α-MoO3 nanorods powder as precursor. A two-step procedure of thermal evaporation and post annealing in air yielded vertically aligned α-MoO3 nanorods perpendicular to the glass substrate. Prepared nanorods are highly crystalline and dense with orthorhombic structure. They have potential application in gas sensing, pseudo super capacitors, field emission etc. The gas sensing properties are under investigation.
