Abstract

ABSTRACT A new method of measuring vertical permeability is presented and successfully tested with field data. It takes advantage of naturally induced tidal pressure changes that occur in all reservoirs and can therefore be used at the appraisal stage. A single well drilled through a gas liquid contact is required - ideally in an offshore field. The pore volume compressibility is also measured using tidal data and compared with core measurements.
