Abstract

The purpose of the present paper is to study experimentally and theoretically a vertical monopole on a rotationally symmetric soft surface by using different calculation methods when the soft disk is realized by corrugations and different material loadings. The radiation pattern is calculated by the moment method (MM) with equivalent currents on all material boundaries, referred to as the equivalent current model (ECM), and by MM with an impedance boundary model (IBM). The uniform geometrical theory of diffraction (UTD) and the incremental theory of diffraction (ITD) are also used. The calculated results are compared with the measured results. The properties of the different calculation methods and realisation technologies are discussed.
