Abstract

Data were extracted from a recent trial of SOLA ACCESSSTM lenses to examine the effect of vertical lens placement on lens acceptance. In that trial patients wore identical frames with either single vision or ACCESS lenses during a two-week trial period. Wide variations between lens design fitting point and pupil centre for different prior lens wear groups or for different occupational groups had no effect on lens acceptance. This suggests that vertical lens placement is not a critical variable in prescribing these lenses and that they can be dispensed in the same way as single vision lenses.
