Abstract

The fungistatic activity of hydrocarbons, alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, nitriles, carbonic acids, carbonic acid esters, quinones and their halogen-substituted derivatives has been examined on liquid mash culture-medium containing 10% cattle-serum as well as on solid mash culture medium solidified by 3% agar. The fungistatic activity of the most effective compounds is reduced by some of the compounds by the addition of cystein-hydrochloride and Na-thioglycolate. Correlations between chemical structure and fungistatic activity of the tested compounds have been obtained, and possible reaction mechanisms discussed.
