Abstract

A hybrid material based on titanium oxide hydrates and poly(vinyl alcohol) is presented that is fully transparent even at high content of the inorganic species and which exhibits a reversible change in coloration from transparent/colorless to blue upon exposure to UV irradiation and an irreversible transition to yellow and red during annealing. Dichroic structures are produced by tensile drawing followed by annealing.
