Abstract
Using an ultrastructural test system (Annefeld, Fassbender, 1983) based on standardised morphometry and statistical evaluation, the authors have studied the influence of a GAG-peptide-complex (Rumalon) on chondrocyte ultrastructure in healthy and damaged articular cartilage of the rat. Evaluation of the data obtained from extensive cell compounds allows for qualitative and quantitative assessment of early changes in the organelle-system of cartilage cells: understanding of cell metabolism is thus greatly enhanced.
