Abstract

The paper describes a model-based approach to the formal verification of sequential control programs for chemical processes. It is assumed that the control software is represented as a Sequential Function Chart (SFC) which may include timing constraints for the control actions. The verification method is based on a timed ConditionlEvent (CIE) model of the uncontrolled plant which will be connected to an equivalent model of the SFC. The set of reachable states in the resulting closed-loop system is determined and compared to a set of forbidden states. A process control example serves to motivate and illustrate the approach.
