Abstract

Verification of system models used in different protection related analysis programs is essential for accurate configuration and correct evaluation of their performance. Fault and event records from multifunctional protection IEDs can be used to verify the models used in short circuit or protection coordination programs by comparing the recorded and calculated results. High and low-speed disturbance records can be used for verification of models used for dynamic stability studies. Waveform records from advanced monitoring and recording devices are identified as the primary source in the process of verifying the models in electromagnetic transient analysis software.
