Abstract

A 19 year old man (BMI 18) was re-admitted with intense lumbar pain and walking impairment 72 hours after laparoscopic appendicectomy. He was tachycardic and hypotensive with a haemoglobin of 11.0 g/dL. Computed tomography angiography revealed injury to the anterior and posterior wall of the left common iliac artery, with active bleeding (A, arrows) and large retroperitoneal haematoma (B, asterisk). The lesions aligned with the umbilical scar (B, arrow). A balloon expandable stent graft, covering the arterial defects, was implanted under local anaesthesia. The patient was discharged after 24 hours. Four weeks later, patency and haematoma re-absorption were observed on duplex ultrasound.Image 1
