Abstract
The article considers the peculiarities of the translation of J. Rowling's novels about Harry Potter into Ukrainian. Phonetic and lexical features of spells as occasionalisms are analyzed. The connection between the phonetic form and the meaning of spells has been traced. The classification of magic formulas in J. Rowling's novels is presented. All translation transformations used in Ukrainian translations are characterized. Translation strategies of magic spell formulas in Ukrainian translations are analyzed.
