Abstract
Abstract The celebration of the transfer of the image of the Virgin of Los Remedios from her sanctuary in Naucalpan to the Metropolitan Cathedral in Mexico City was described in a series of versified accounts, from which at least eight different printed pamphlets written by different authors, dated 1653–1685, are known, as well as a poetic programme from 1621. This article analyses their rhetorical construction, and their style, which is sometimes serious, and sometimes jocose, situating them, moreover, in the discourse used by the chroniclers and historians of this time, in order to observe how verbal aesthetics around a particular phenomenon is being transformed from 1616 to 1685.
