Abstract

Taking Luther's Larger Catechisms as the primary source and point of reference, the article aims to find elements of what we might call “Lutheran theology of mission” in the Reformer's own texts. In light of Luther's well-known finding by researchers, that interpretation of Luther's second petition of the Lord's Prayer, especially in the Large Catechism, may serve as an important reference for understanding what Luther understands by what we today call mission, the study aims to interpret the details of the Lord's second petition. In conclusion, the article systematizes the emphases found in Luther, aiming to offer connections to contemporary missiological discussions.
