Hypernasal speech and nasal emission constitute the most typical stigmata. Moreover, the gap between the velum and pharynx obstruct drainage of the middle ear with recurrent ear infections and increase the risk of developing conductive ear loss. Li et al 1 Li F. Wang H. The family often discounts this handicap, but when children begin school it can be very traumatic for them, especially when grimacing is associated. Naran et al 3 Naran S. Ford M. Losee J.E.
