Abstract
The probability density function of velocity differences δv i=v i( x+ r)−v i( x) in turbulent flows has a stricking evolution when r goes from large scales to small dissipative ones developing wide non gaussian wings. A formalism has been developed, generalizing the multifractal formalism, which well describes this evolution for finite Reynolds numbers. The extrapolation to infinite Reynolds number presents unexpected features.
