Abstract

The velocity dependence of the free polaron optical absorption constant has been determined on solving the Heisenberg's equations of motion for the polaron. It has been shown that an enhancement of the carrier velocity exhibits two main modifications of the optical absorption line shape: first, a small shift of the absorption threshold towards lower frequencies, second an important increase of the peak intensity.
