Abstract

Cuttings of sycamore maple stump sprouts were rooted in soil or cultured invitro on synthetic media under aseptic conditions. Rooting of invitro shoots was accomplished. The trials concerned a "standard wood" tree and two trees with wavy grains. Regeneration of invitro plantlets occurred within 3 weeks of culture with all three trees. Contamination was a severe problem. Growth regulators were not required to induce root formation. Invitro regenerated plantlets developed as well as seedlings when transferred to soil.
