Abstract

Elv (European Launch Vehicle) is an Avio and ASI (Italian Space Agency) company established in 2000. It was selected by ESA (European Space Agency) to serve as prime contractor in the activities geared to the development of the European launcher Vega. The company is responsible for every aspect of system development, from the drafting of the specifications, through production, to its integration in the launch pad. One of the key tasks in the launch vehicle (LV) system design process consists in the mission design that the LV is asked to perform. This has been a major activity in the frame of Vega LV Final Mission Analysis Review carried out for recent successful Vega qualification flight. Vega is a light launcher designed to lift small payloads in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). Vega is a four stage rocket.
