Abstract

A complex Monte Carlo program simulating the behaviour of neutral particles in the divertor chamber of a Tokamak fusion reactor has been vectorized. Nearly 50% of all the 5000 Fortran statements of the original program were modified. On the vector-processing computer FACOM VP-100, the revised program was able to be executed in less than one half of the execution time of the original program. The particle-packing method and the management system of active particles are described.
