Abstract
We have reported the measured results for the magnetic properties of a non-oriented electrical steel sheet under various magnetic flux and stress conditions and proposed a new vector magnetic characteristic analysis technique to consider the stress effect on the motor core. In this paper, the stress effect on the magnetic flux density vector, magnetic field strength vector, and magnetic power loss is examined to improve the performance of electric motors. Thus, the assumed stress distribution is applied to the local part of a stator core, and the vector magnetic characteristic analysis is performed using stress-complex $E$ and $S$ modeling. From these results, the loci of the magnetic field strength vector and the magnetic power loss differed by changing the stress distribution. It was possible to decrease the magnetic power loss by applying a controlled local stress distribution.
