Abstract
We use the results of the generalized vector-dominance model for deep-inelastic electron-proton scattering to show that in the large-ω region, the structure function νW2 is simply related to the πN total cross sections, with fπ, the pion decay constant, setting the scale. We combine this with arguments based on PCAC (partial conservation of axial-vector current) and smoothness to suggest that certain regularities obtain in the large-ω region among the structure functions νW2 for vector and axial-vector currents and the πN and ρN scattering cross sections.
