Abstract

The saphenous vein graft is the most commonly used conduit in coronary artery bypass graft surgery. The use of less invasive techniques for vessel harvesting has consistently gained interest due to the advantages in terms of reduced trauma and wound complications. In particular, many studies have reported that endoscopic vein-graft harvesting reduces postoperative pain, the incidence of wound complications, and the length of hospital stay, as well as eliminating the need for a large longitudinal incision and increasing patient satisfaction. Over the last decade, our cardiac surgery dept. has gained a considerable experience (>1000 cases) with this endoscopic approach. Aims of this video is to illustrate two of the widely used endoscopic vein harvest devices: the VirtuoSaph Endoscopic Vein Harvesting System from Terumo (an open tunnel system) and VasoView System from Maquet Cardiovascular (a closed tunnel system).
