Abstract
Users perceive usefulness of systems by their interfaces. Special attention is put on handicapped people. Adequately designed computer systems can be very helpful for them. The paper presents a developed system, VCOP (visual communication with computers for paralyzed users), that meets following requirements: (1) enable people with paralysis to communicate with others by a computer that is able to react to eye movement, even though such communication would be limited (2) use commonly, inexpensive components (the system must be cheap). Some experimental study of usefulness of the system are performed and presented.
