Abstract
The article deals with the question of how the contemporary postmodernist world view relates to the mainstream of Adventist theology - i.e. a movement which directly follows the modernist world view of the founders of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. It critically analyses the deconstruction of evangelical theology in the works of the Adventist philosopher Fernando Canale. This deconstruction aims at redefining the macro-hermeneutic approach of Adventist theology on the basis of God's temporality. Finally, the article demonstrates the impact of this understanding on Adventist orthopraxy.

Profesor na adventistické Andrewsově univerzitě Fernando Canale v článku Deconstructing Evangelical Theology?5 nabízí pro adventisty „hlavního proudu“ řešení, které sice umožňuje uplatnit stejná hermeneutická pravidla, jaká využívali millerističí a postmillerističí adventisté, ale které zároveň na první pohled postupuje postmoderními metodami. 1 (2007): 87–100 nebo Fernando Canale, Protože postmoderna prodělala posun k hermeneutice, kdy poznání není již absolutní, ale je dáno vzájemným vztahem subjektu a objektu, je podle Canaleho nutné popsat hermeneutické principy, na kterých bude teologie nadále stavět. Který odmítá, aby se filosofie, která je příliš proměnlivá, stala východiskem teologické hermeneutiky.[10] Canale tvrdí, že když své filosofické předpoklady hermeneutiky vezmeme z Písma, tak jsme vlastně „reinterpretovali základy, na kterých byla postavena evangelikální a křesťanská teologie.“11 Je tedy přesvědčen, že dekonstrukcí lze předporozumění nejenom co nejvíce zúžit, jak o to usiluje Erickson, ale že lze dojít k jedinému správnému východisku. Hem revolučnějšímu přístupu Heideggerovu, který „nejen že kritizoval hermeneutické základy, na kterých byla postavena klasická a moderní filosofie, ale nahradil je něčím velmi odlišným.“13 Stejně tak by Canaleho dekonstrukce evangelikální teologie měla otevřít cestu novým teologickým konstrukcím.
