Abstract
Pope Francis and his non-European and non-Western origins are overturning a paradigm that is at once geopolitical and cultural, along with other European and Western paradigms that are typical of Catholicism in the north-western part of the globe. In this sense Francis embodies the message of Vatican II for the future of the Catholic Church.
