Abstract

Rats treated with 50 or 300 mg/kg capsaicin were less tolerant of a warm environment than controls. However, preoptic thermoregulatory impairment, as shown by a decreased vasodilatation on preoptic heating, was not found for the lower dose, suggesting a deficiency in extrahypothalamic thermoreceptive structures.
