Abstract
Fusarium oxysporum was isolated from specimens of Helichrysum bracteatum, H. baxteri and H. elatum which showed symptoms including wilting, vascular necrosis and death. An isolate of F. oxysporum was used to inoculate seedlings of H. bracteatum. Symptoms similar to those observed in the original diseased plants were reproduced in the seedlings and F. oxysporum was re-isolated, satisfying Koch’s postulates. This is the first substantiated report that F. oxysporum causes this disease in Helichrysum spp. The disease has subsequently been observed in plantings of Helichrysum in the Sydney region.
