Abstract The following abstracts are from the papers presented to the 40th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Vascular Surgical Society of Great Britain and Ireland, held in Harrogate, UK on 24–26 November 2004. The President of the Society, Mr Peter Harris, was in the Chair. The BJS Prize was won by Mr V Vijayan, Bristol Royal Infirmary, Bristol and the Founder's Prize was won by Mr ZA Ali, Addenbrooke's Hospital NHS Trust, Cambridge, UK.
