Abstract

Canada, nicknamed the Great White North due to its vast size and the fact that much of the north consists of snow covered tundra, is the second largest country in the world, covering almost 10 million km2. In contrast, Canada has a relatively small population of 38 million people, similar to that of Poland. Canada shares a southern border of nearly 9 000 km with the United States, and the majority of Canadians live within 100 km of this border. Canada is officially a bilingual English/French nation.
