Abstract

Genetically, Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a heterogeneous disorder with both familial and sporadic forms. Mutations in APP, PS1 and PS2 genes account for relatively rare early-onset autosomal dominant forms of AD; by contrast, the genetics of the common late-onset sporadic form is far more complex and several determinants have been proposed as playing a causative role.
