Abstract

Background: Abdominal aortic calcification impairs visceral blood flow, and has been associated with post-operative morbidity in patients undergoing abdominal surgery. However, the effect of vascular calcification on tumour response to neoadjuvant therapy, or survival, has not previously been examined. The present study examined the relationship between aortoiliac calcification, tumour response and cancer-specific and overall survival (CSS/OS) of patients with rectal cancer.
