Abstract

By using the reductive perturbation technique, a modified Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation has been derived to highlight the impact of the trapped electrons on non-linear wave propagation in plasmas. In particular, the formation of spiky solitary waves, double layers and explosive modes, as well as other possible progressive modes of relevance to the satellite observations in interplanetary space, have been discussed. The present theoretical studies sieved many more non-linear waves reflecting the chaotic motion in the dynamical systems where causeway meets the eye in the plasma community. The treatment is fairly general for understanding the basic properties of various solitons in plasmas.
