Abstract

In this paper, we implement B-MAC protocol on various scenarios of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) by using OMNeT++ simulator. The simulation presents a combination of framework such as INET and MiXiM under three different scenarios, based on mobility. Sensor nodes consume more energy when they have to send data and the consumption of energy depends on many factors. Mobility and distance is one of them. Simulation results give a clear understanding that stationary mode scenario is energy efficient in terms of sensor deployment as the nodes are no more in mobile state and there are no other factors which lead to energy depletion. Only the energy consumed by sensor nodes is because of calculations and communications performed. It is concluded that the performance of B-MAC protocol under different scenarios can be varied regarding the consumption of energy.
