Abstract

The possible mechanisms of magnetic interlayer coupling in sandwiches has been analyzed on the basis of experimental data of coercive force, domain structure and microstructure of Fe 15Co 20Ni 65/Cr/Fe 15Co 20Ni 65 and Fe 19Ni 81/Cr/Fe 19Ni 81 films. By means of theoretical estimations we have shown that with increasing Cr interlayer thickness ( L) the exchange interlayer coupling changes into a magnetostatic interaction which is due to either the interface roughness or the magnetization ripple for different L.
