Abstract
Editor-in-Chief Clinical Anatomy, Birmingham, AlabamaFontenelle has said, “Astronomy and anatomy arethe studies which present us with the most strikingviews of the two great attributes of the SupremeBeing. The first of these fills the mind with the ideaof his immensity, in the largeness, distances, andnumber of the heavenly bodies; the last astonishes, with his intelligence and art in the variety and deli-cacy of animal mechanism” (Nicholson, 1819).Herein, we certainly address the “variety and deli-cacy of animal mechanism.” Among others, thisissue of Clinical Anatomy offers original studiesaimed at comparing surgical approaches to the pet-rous apex, radiologic studies of the knee and spine, new findings regarding potential thermoregulationand the posterior intercostal veins and both a his-toricreviewofBenjaminAlcockandhiscanalandanew teaching approach to the perineum. As always,we welcome your comments and suggestions onhow we can improve our journal.
