Abstract

An experiment conducted at the Cotton Research Unit, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Agricultural University, Akola in 2010–11 and 2011–12 evaluated 13 hirsutum Bt and non Bt cotton (Gossypium spp.) cultivars against leafhopper Amrasca biguttula biguttula (Ishida). Two cultivars viz., PKVHY-2 and DHY-286 were observed to be resistant (Grade I), while six were tolerant (Grade II), and five susceptible (Grade III). The cultivar DHY-286 harboured the least population followed by PKVHY-2, while the maximum population was on RCH-2 Bt and RCH-2, followed by the BNBt. The host plant susceptibility index (HPSI) was the least for DHY-286, followed by PKVHY-2, with the highest index being observed with RCH-2 Bt and RCH-2, followed by BNBt.
